AV Technician

Fast-paced Technical Position in Corporate Event Productions

Audio-Visual Technician is responsible for setting up, installing, operating, and troubleshooting audio and video equipment on location for events and functions including meetings and conventions, corporate events, and news conferences. This position requires availability that may include nights, weekends, overnight stays, and occasional holidays.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Set up and install equipment including microphones, sound systems, screens, projectors, and monitors, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards for events and functions such as meetings and conventions, corporate presentations, and news conferences.
  • Ensure equipment is installed according to the designated layout.
  • Test and resolve basic equipment issues.
  • Mix sound inputs and feeds and monitor sound feeds to ensure quality.
  • Clean audio & other equipment and ensure its proper storage.
  • Assist in maintaining AV warehouse and inventory control.
  • Ensure the safe and accurate transfer of equipment to customers and vendors.
  • Ability and comfort level in driving a  cargo van, 16’ or 26’ box truck.
  • Willingness to travel outside the immediate Tampa Bay area, including possible overnight stays.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and report equipment that requires repairs.
  • Provide all end-users and guests a positive first impression by offering World Class Service.
  • Any additional tasks deemed necessary.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED required.
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment background check screening and have a clean driving record.
  • 1-3 years of related AV experience preferred. Some training is provided.
  • Motivated and positive, high-energy attitude.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced event environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and in team environments.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong PC skills and a comfort level operating inventory software.
  • Creative and proactive problem solver with an eagerness to learn new tools and skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a presentable customer-facing personality.
  • Strong work ethic and punctuality.
  • Endurance to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and select holidays with possible overnight stays.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 34.5 lbs. without accommodation.

Key Details

  • Job Type: Hourly, $17.00 – $20.00 per hour. 40+ hours per week, overtime-eligible.
  • Ability to commute/relocate: Tampa, FL
  • Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
  • Education: High school or equivalent (Required)
  • Experience: A/V Production experience is preferred, some equipment training is provided.
